| Richard Petry is the Director of Graduate Studies at the Columbus College of Art & Design where he has been a faculty member, chair and dean. Mr. Petry’s art making is broad in scope and media, including both commercial and fine art photography, as well as film, performance, sculpture, and recently, collaborative production of video integrated with dance performances. A recipient of a National Endowment for the Arts Fellowship, an Ohio Arts Council Fellowship, and a Greater Columbus Arts Council Individual Artist Grant, he has exhibited throughout the U.S. and in India and Europe. His images are part of the permanent collections of the Philadelphia Museum of Art, the Columbus Museum of Art, The Ohio State University, and private and corporate collections. He has held visiting artists appointments at Sanskriti Kendra, New Delhi, India; Chicago Art Institute; National Institute of Art, Taipei, Taiwan; and Shen Chen University, Taipei, Taiwan. His most current work combines animation, video and photography with dance. These pieces exist both as original videos and as environments for live performance. Mr. Petry received his MFA from Tyler School of Art where he studied photography with William Larson. |
